About Rocky Point

Puerto Penasco, Mexico, more commonly referred to as Rocky Point, is a short drive from both Tempe or Tucson, being approximately a 4 hour drive from either city. It boasts beautiful beaches, sitting on the coast of the Sea of Cortez. Rocky Point has many luxurious and splendid condos and hotels. It has become an increasingly popular student destination over the past few years. It resembles and up and coming Cancun, Puerto Vallarta, or Cabo San Lucas. It is estimated that as many as 50,000 students traveled down to Rocky Point for spring break in 2010. This number is expected to grow more each year, as students are becoming more aware that Rocky Point is truly a great vacation destination. Also, a major airport is under construction in Rocky Point, which should be done within a few years. Other than spring break, Rocky Point's most popular travel dates for students are Labor Day Weekend (late August or Early September) and Memorial Day Weekend (late May). Students from all around Arizona (especially ASU, U of A, and NAU) as well as students from all across the country have been known to flock down to Rocky Point during these dates.
